The world's most powerful Dimensity 9300 chip starts trotting 2 minutes after the test starts and performance drops by half
A fortnight ago, vivo announced the X100 Pro smartphone with Dimensity 9300 chip. The world's most powerful processor according to AnTuTu turned out to be problematic.
Here's What We Know
MediaTek emphasised on performance when creating the new processor. Expectedly, the lack of energy-efficient cores negatively affected the chip's performance under heavy load. In the stress test, trottling began only 2 minutes after the start.
Dimensity 9300 performance was gradually falling during the test. A 15-minute session ended with a sag of up to 60%. The worst result was recorded after about 12 minutes of the test, when the performance dropped to 46%.
The Dimensity 9300 has one Cortex-X4 Prime core at 3.25GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores at 2.85GHz and four Cortex-A720 cores at 2GHz. Under load, the processor cores' frequencies dropped to 0.6 GHz, 1.5 GHz and 1.2 GHz respectively.
It's worth noting that smartphones based on last year's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip also lose performance, but not as much. Trottling begins in the second half of the session. At the same time, the performance level drops only 20% on average. Now we are waiting for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 test.
