It is normal practice for NVIDIA to release stripped-down modifications of its products for export to China in the face of sanctions. According to the editor of WCCFTech, the company will create a special configuration of GeForce RTX 4090.

Here's What We Know

The flagship graphics card of the Ada Lovelace generation will receive a stripped-down modification to meet the requirements of the US authorities for export to China. According to the WCCFTech editor, this RTX 4090 variant will have the letter D in the name.

At this point, it's unclear how much the AD102 chip will be limited compared to the standard GPU variant. Usually in such cases NVIDIA reduces frequencies or reduces the number of active functional blocks.

In this situation, it is interesting that the cost of the modified graphics card will not differ from the regular version of GeForce RTX 4090. In China it will be possible to buy the reduced model at a price equivalent to $1600.
