Samsung's Snapdragon X Elite-powered Galaxy Book 4 Edge has appeared in the Geekbench benchmark
According to a recent leak from Geekbench, Samsung is working on a new Galaxy Book4 Edge laptop powered by Snapdragon X Elite processor and Windows 11 operating system. This new device, which looks to be a new brand in the Galaxy Book lineup, is specifically built for Windows 11 on ARM.
Here's What We Know
The Galaxy Book4 Edge uses the Snapdragon X Elite XE8100100 with 12 cores, and the "base frequency" is 4.01GHz. The benchmark shows that the core scores are: single-core at 2,706 and multi-core at 12,646. These scores indicate how well the chip performs tasks using only a single CPU core or multiple cores at the same time.
The device runs on Windows 11 Home (64-bit), but there is no mention of "Version 24H2" or "Windows 11 Preview". This could mean that the device was tested on an older version of Windows 11. The results will be better with Windows 11 version 24H2, which is optimised for ARM chips.
The table below compares the Galaxy Book4 Edge X Elite with other similar ARM chips including the Apple M3. The data collected shows that the Book4 Edge is the clear winner when comparing it to the Apple M1 and M2, but falls slightly short of the M3.
Chip | Single-core | Multi-core |
Apple M1 | 2334 | 8316 |
Apple M2 | 2589 | 9742 |
Apple M3 | 3181 | 15620 |
Book4 Edge (X Elite) | 2706 | 12646 |
In conclusion, the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge with Snapdragon X Elite promises to be an important step in the development of ARM-based notebooks. The new device is expected to bring significant performance improvements, making it highly appealing to consumers.
