Samsung plans to release a more affordable Galaxy Fold 6 or Flip 6 model
According to the latest rumours, Samsung is preparing to release a cheaper version of its flagship foldable smartphones. This information appeared in a report by Korean publication SisaJournal-e. The publication does not specify whether we are talking about a cheaper Galaxy Fold 6 or a device from the Flip series. It is noted that the new device may cost less than $800, which is almost half the price of the previous model Galaxy Fold 5, which was priced at $1,800 and the cheaper Flip 5, which is priced at $1,000.
To bring the cost down, the company will probably have to make some compromises. The processor, display and battery specifications are expected to be simplified. At the same time, the cameras are rumoured to be almost identical to the "existing model". It is noted that the new device will feature a dual camera setup.
On the other hand, well-known insider Roland Quandt had earlier reported that the Galaxy Fold 6, codenamed Q6, will have another variant of the model codenamed Q6a. He says he heard information at MWC 2024 that the Q6a model could be more expensive than the standard Fold 6 model, contradicting earlier reports. However, final clarity on this will only come closer to the device's launch date.
