Crab walk: Maextro S800 sedan co-developed by Huawei and JAC drove between standing Maybachs
Huawei and JAC showed how their new Maextro S800 luxury sedan drives diagonally, mimicking the way crabs move. To demonstrate this feature, the car was manoeuvred between seven Mercedes-Benz Maybach S-Class.
Here's What We Know
The Maextro S800 can turn all four wheels, with the rear wheels shifting up to 16 degrees, surpassing the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (10 degrees) and Rolls-Royce Ghost (5 degrees). This provides improved manoeuvrability, especially on narrow roads. For a car with a length of 5,480mm, this is useful.

The sedan is available in two versions: all-electric (BEV) and with range extender (Range Extended or EREV).
- BEV: three electric motors with a total output of 852 hp.
- EREV: two or three electric motors with an additional 1.5-litre turbo engine acting as a generator.
The design of the Maextro S800 includes two-tone body paint, 20-inch wheels with self-levelling hubcaps and integrated LiDAR on the roof to support automated driving functions.
The Maextro S800 is expected to go on sale soon at a price of around 1 million yuan (approximately $136,000).
