A painting created by Midjourney's neural network surpassed the work of real artists and won an art contest
A funny thing happened in Colorado, USA: a painting created by the Midjourney neural network won in the digital art category there.
How Was It Possible?
"The "author" (if you can call him that way, of course) was Jason Allen, who won with a painting called "Theatre D'opéra Spatial". In fact, he made no secret of the fact that he used artificial intelligence to create it, and signed his work as "Jason Allen via Midjourney.
This has caused quite a bit of controversy, and no wonder: the Midjourney neural network, it turns out, was more "talented" than the real artists. But Allen is sure that winning the contest is also to his credit, because he spent a lot of time and effort to formulate the perfect query for the program, edit the image in Photoshop, improve the quality and print the picture on canvas. He said he made hundreds of attempts, resulting in the three most successful paintings, one of which was Theatre D'opéra Spatial.
