Porsche, ahead of the presentation of the Taycan Turbo GT electric sports car, has tested a pre-release version of the car on the Nürburgring track.

Here's What We Know

The pre-release version of the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT has set a new world record. Porsche development driver Lars Kern managed to lap the car in 7:07.55 minutes. This is 18 seconds faster than the Tesla Model S Plaid in June 2023 (7:25.23) and 26 seconds faster than Kern drove the Porsche Taycan S Sport in 2022 (7:33.35). Such an achievement puts the new Taycan Turbo GT on par with electric hypercars.

What exactly version of the electric car was during the test Porsche does not say. We can only assume that the German carmaker used the top-end 1000 hp version of the car. The Taycan Turbo GT is due for release later this year. The Mashi will be the flagship of Porsche's electric cars.
