For the first time in history, the Ukrainian Navy has created a brigade of special-purpose maritime drones
The Ukrainian Defence Forces are actively using not only unmanned aerial vehicles, but also marine drones. Moreover, the Ukrainian Navy has formed a brigade of maritime drones for the first time in history.
Here's What We Know
The creation of a brigade of marine drones was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The head of state presented battle flags to several brigades, including the 385th separate brigade of special purpose marine drone systems of the Ukrainian Navy.
The defence forces have been using MAGURA drones for some time now. Recently, the Defence Ministry's Main Directorate of Intelligence published footage of such a drone in operation. The drones attacked Russian ships.
MAGURA was presented a few weeks ago. At the same time for the first time naval drones were used last year. The drone with dimensions of 5.5 x 1.5 metres can reach speeds of more than 75 km/h. It has a range of over 800 kilometres and a maximum payload weight of 320 kilometres.
