The next country for the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) has been Italy. The aircraft carrier was spotted in Trieste. It will remain in the city for several days. The ships is expected to leave Italy on Thursday, September 21, 2023.
The aircraft carrier carries F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter jets and EA-18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft, as well as MH-60R/S helicopters. The aircraft carrier strike group includes the missile cruiser USS Normandy (CG-60), guided missile destroyers USS Ramage (DDG-61), USS McFaul (DDG-74) and USS Thomas Hudner (DDG-116).
Last week, the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) was on patrol in the Adriatic with other ships. Earlier, the aircraft carrier, worth over $13bn, visited Turkey. During its time in Europe, where it replaced USS Harry Truman (CVN 75), the ship visited Norway and Croatia.
