The Russians have put a 2023 Tsiklon ship, which can carry Kalibr and Onyx missiles, into the Black Sea, but it cannot launch launches
Russia's newest small missile ship, the Cyclone, has reappeared in the Black Sea. At the end of summer, it was put on combat duty for the first time.
Here's What We Know
"Cyclone" is one of the newest Russian ships. It joined the fleet in mid-summer 2023. The small missile ship has passed sea trials, but has not participated in combat tests. Therefore, it is unclear whether it can launch missiles. At the same time, Dmytro Pletenchuk, speaker of the Ukrainian Navy, claims that the Cyclone is not capable of launching missiles.
The ship is 67 metres long, 11 metres wide and has a draft of 4 metres. The displacement reaches 870 tonnes. The power of the M507D-1 diesel engines is 5884 kW, and the DGA-315-1 diesel generators have a capacity of 315 kW.
The Russians report plans to arm the ship with Zirkon hypersonic missiles in the future. At the moment, the Tsiklon is equipped with a vertical launch system for Kalibr cruise missiles and Onyx anti-ship missiles.
