Valve says we shouldn't expect Steam Deck 2 in the next few years
Since its launch, the Steam Deck portable gaming console has been a great success for Valve and, although the company has stated that it considers the Steam Deck to be a "multi-generational product line" and plans to release new and improved iterations of the device, there will be no significant updates in the next few years.
Here's What We Know
Pierre-Lou Griffe told one of the publications about this during the Tokyo Game Show:
"Right now, we’re kind of looking at this performance target that we have as a stable target for a couple years. We think that it’s a pretty sweet spot in terms of being able to play all the experiences from this new generation and so far, the new releases are coming out with great experiences on Steam Deck."
He also explained that an important part of Valve's console strategy is to keep the features and developer options clear and straightforward, so we shouldn't expect the next generation of the handheld to be released anytime soon.
