Epic Games acquired Mediatonic in 2021 after the successful launch of Fall Guys. The deal was supposed to ensure the future stable development of Mediatonic, but now the studio's future is somewhat cloudy.

The fact is that the night after the announcement of the layoffs, rumours began to spread that the scale of layoffs was so large that the entire studio could be closed. However, this information is untrue, as confirmed by team members interviewed by one of Eurogamer's writers and confirmed by Epic Games itself:

"Mediatonic's work on Fall Guys continues to be a company priority"

Employees have also confirmed that the scale of the layoffs is very significant, and it is not yet known how many people will remain in the studio.
