From criminal shooters to fantasy RPG: Payday developers from Starbreeze studio announced a game based on Dungeons & Dragons universe
Swedish studio Starbreeze, known for the series of co-operative shooters Payday, announced a new project, and it will surprise many fans of this company.
Here's What We Know
Starbreeze announced the development of a role-playing game based on the Dungeons & Dragons universe!
The developers have obtained a licence from the rights holder of the cult board game - Wizards of the Coast company and have already started working on Project Baxter.
Starbreeze CEO Tobias Sjögren said:
When we were looking at promising IPs for our future projects, Dungeons & Dragons was always at the top of the list and I am incredibly happy to announce this licence. I want to thank Wizards of the Coast for being an amazing partner.
The game is being developed on Unreal Engine 5 and will be available on all current platforms at the time of release. Judging by the description, many aspects of Project Baxter are borrowed from Payday: players will be able to play co-operatively, elements of a service game, a greater degree of community involvement in the development of the game and long-term support.
Project Baxter is scheduled for release in 2026.
