Roblox lays off 30 members of the recruitment team
Gaming platform Roblox has laid off 30 employees from its talent acquisition department due to a slowdown in hiring. The decision comes after a period of rapid growth for the game, which now has more than 250 million monthly active users - more than Fortnite and Minecraft combined.
Here's What We Know
According to Techcrunch, this decision is the result of strategic changes at Roblox focused on achieving profit, as the company is operating at a significant loss, and this has had an impact on the amounts it pays developers on its platform. A Roblox representative explained it as follows:
"With our commitment to getting our cash compensation growth in line with our bookings growth by the end of Q1 2024, we now need a smaller Talent Acquisition organisation to meet our adjusted hiring needs".
The company's plans include the search for new employees when it is necessary. In August, Roblox announced its intention to advertise its vacancies with a virtual career centre where applicants can participate in events, listen to podcasts, and communicate with existing employees. This opportunity is currently available for candidates for entry-level positions, and the company intends to roll out this experience to a wider range of candidates in the near future.
