It's all Schreier's fault: French journalist claims Rockstar Games made an emergency change of plans and didn't show the GTA VI teaser because of the Bloomberg leak

On the 8th of November it happened what millions of gamers were waiting for: president and co-founder of Rockstar Games Sam Houser announced that the first trailer of "new GTA" will be presented to the public soon.

Unfortunately for the developers, there was no surprise, because a few hours before the authoritative insider and Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier informed the public about the upcoming announcement.

Here's What We Know

Neither Rockstar Games management nor publisher Take-Two were thrilled with the leaked information. As reported by French journalist Chris Klippel:

... I was able to confirm that the situation at Rockstar is quite tense, and that Sam Houser and Strauss Zelnick are furious about this leak. The gentlemen have announced that an internal investigation will be launched to find out who Jason Schreier's informant was.
Sam Hauser and Strauss Zelnick have also stated that anyone found to have leaked confidential information will be severely punished by Take Two Interactive for failing to comply with the NDA. It's a shame that the announcement of one of the most anticipated games in history has been spoilt in this way.

Keppel claims that the developers had originally planned to brightly present the teaser rather than limit themselves to a dry publication on the website and social networks, but because of Schreier's leak, they urgently changed their plans.

In addition, Schreier reported in his publication that "later this week" Rockstar Games would unveil a short teaser and possibly reveal the title of the new GTA, but here it is the end of the week and the reveal still hasn't happened.

Rockstar has probably completely changed plans to unveil the game and the public will languish in anticipation until early December.

By the way, Schreier strongly disagrees with Keppel's opinion that he was the one who spoilt the holiday that the developers had planned for gamers. The journalist claims that Rockstar had long planned to make an announcement on 8 November, as on this day were to publish a financial report Take-Two Interactive.

The announcement took place at exactly 8am North American Eastern Time - the day of Take-Two's financial report. The announcement was then mentioned in the earnings briefing, which is prepared well in advance of the release of the financial document.

There's probably some truth in Schreier's words, but it's faintly believable that a much-anticipated game like GTA VI was planned to be unveiled with an announcement at X.

Maybe Rockstar will unveil the new GTA instalment at The Game Awards 2023 show? That would be the perfect venue for such a big reveal.
