German journalists have confirmed the information about the closure of Piranha Bytes studio - the author of famous RPGs Gothic, Risen and Elex
Recently we reported about the possible closure of the German game studio Piranha Bytes - the author of the famous RPGs Gothic, Risen and Elex. Then the assumption was made only by indirect signs, but GameStar portal has conducted its own investigation and reported additional details.
Here's What We Know
GameStar sources reported that the Swedish holding company Embracer Group did not plan to close Piranha Bytes. It was planned to sell the studio to a third-party company, but there were no buyers and Embracer will be forced to close the studio.
Journalists say that Embracer does not officially announce the end of the long-standing cooperation with Piranha Bytes, so as not to harm the marketing campaign of the remake of Gothic - the most famous and popular game of the German developer. It is noted that the process of dismissal of a large team in Germany is much more complicated than in other European countries, so Embracer Group still has time to announce the closure of the studio.
Despite the fact that Piranha Bytes is still technically operating, the team has completely stopped developing games, which may upset Elex fans, as the ending of the second part is cut off halfway through and clearly hints at the third part, which is apparently not destined to be released.
