The head of Gearbox Software has indirectly confirmed the development of the new Borderlands and hinted at its imminent announcement
Rumours that a fourth part of the Borderlands shooter series is in development have been circulating for quite some time now.
The third part of the series was released in September 2019 and is still hugely popular, so no one doubts that Gearbox Software studio will continue the franchise.
The developer has not yet confirmed this information, but perhaps the co-founder and director of the studio Randy Pitchford hinted at the imminent announcement of the Borderlands sequel.
Here's What We Know
Randy Pitchford spoke to the journalists of IGN portal. During the conversation he was asked which part of Borderlands is the best in his opinion and he answered:
The game we're working on is the best thing we've ever done. I can't wait to tell you more, but it's not time yet....
There is speculation that Borderlands 4 (the name is tentative) will be officially announced on 19 March at PAX East, as it was with the third part of the game.
Indirectly, the official Borderlands Twitter account has been publishing a series of posts reminding about the main events of the series for some time now.
Plus, a feature-length film based on Borderlands will premiere in August. This suggests that Gearbox could release the game around the same time period as the film adaptation.
But while this is all speculation for now, Randy Pitchford's words clearly point to something important and interesting.
