Beam tracing, DLSS support and PS5-level graphics: the first details of Nintendo's new gaming console have been revealed
Just after gamescom 2023 wrapped up, two reputable journalists reported that Nintendo held a private presentation of its new console at the show. And today, two more publications have shared details of the exclusive reveal.
Here's What We Know
Portal Eurogamer reported that a narrow circle of journalists and developers were shown the technical characteristics of the new console Nintendo on the example of an improved version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It remains unclear if the Japanese company plans to re-release the game or if it was just a prototype for internal use.
Insiders at VGC reported that the Switch 2 (the name is notional) is far superior to the last console, as it ran the demanding techno-demo The Matrix Awakens, with Nvidia's DLSS technology and ray tracing activated.
Nintendo's new console is claimed to be as good as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series in terms of graphics quality, while still being a handheld device.
Most likely, some game studios have already received prototypes of the console, so it is likely that the official announcement of the gadget will take place soon.
