Nintendo Switch sales approaching 140 million units: company releases detailed financial report

Nintendo has published its report for the three quarters of the current fiscal year (1 April to 31 December 2023).
Here's What We Know
The financial statistics confirm that Nintendo is doing great, with Nintendo Switch consoles and games being hugely popular and generating steady revenue for the company.
The key figures from Nintendo's report:
- The company's revenue for the three quarters of 2023 grew 7.7 per cent over the same period in 2022 to $9.38 billion, with net income reaching $2.74 billion;
- total sales of 139.36 million Nintendo Switch consoles as of the end of December 2023; and
- 6.9 million Nintendo Switch units were sold during the third quarter, with the OLED model being the most popular with 3.48 million units. In the first nine months of the fiscal year, 13.74 million Switch units were sold;
- over 1.2 billion copies of games for the device have been sold since Switch's release (2017). For the third quarter of the fiscal year, 66.87 million games were sold, down 13.2 per cent from a year earlier;
- the number of active Switch users grew to 122 million;
- Nintendo's 2023 flagship title The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom sold 20.28 million copies, while Super Mario Bros. Wonder (release in October 2023) sold 11.96 million copies.
