Media: Nintendo's new consoles are scheduled to launch in March 2025
Last week, it was reported that Nintendo changed plans and postponed the launch of its new game console.
Today, Japanese portal Nikkei revealed a more specific timeline for the device's release.
Here's What We Know
Nikkei sources claim that Nintendo Switch 2 (the name is conditional) will appear on the market in March 2025.
According to their information, the delayed launch is due to two factors:
- Nintendo wants to give its and partner studios more time to familiarise themselves with the technical capabilities of the Nintendo Switch 2 to avoid the problems that plagued the launch of the previous model.
- The Japanese company wants to provide gamers with an extensive launch line-up of games to give customers extra motivation to purchase the new console.
It's worth noting that the information about the Switch 2's March 2025 release correlates with analysts' speculation that Nintendo wants to release the console within the next fiscal year in order to show investors significant revenue growth in the annual report.
Previously, insiders claimed that the official announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 could take place as early as March 2024, but given the fact that the company's management has stated that they do not want to allow a big gap in time between the announcement and the start of sales, it is likely that the presentation will be postponed until autumn.
