Denuvo took on the protection of DLC from pirates
Denuvo presented SecureDLC is a technology for protecting game add-ons from hacking. The company believes that it is now quite easy to bypass the protection of digital stores, so pirates easily get access to DLC. The "first in the industry" solution is designed to remedy the situation.
Cosmetic items, new characters, weapons and power-ups will fall under the protection of the technology, along with large add-ons that are exclusive to certain editions or sold separately.
The company assures that SecureDLC makes small changes to the product source code and tests API functionality. Studios that have already implemented the technology in their games respond well to it, says CEO Denuvo Reinhard Blaukovich:
"Our current clients, large and small, are delighted with the results. We're excited to help them maximize revenue and bring new business models to these hard-earned games."
We will remind you sometimes Denuvo becomes the main enemy not only of pirates, but also of gamers. The protection system can negatively affect the performance of games - this was the case with Resident Evil Village on PC, and may also prevent you from playing at all due to server issues.
