The new non-numbered part of Skate will be a service game that will be launched as a shareware. The team says that the project is not a successor to Skate 3, but something more. About this and much more developers from Full Circle told in a rather long video.

Skate creative director Chris Perry said that the project is not a sequel, prequel, remake, reboot or remaster of the original Skate - it's something new. Another creative game director Deran Chang compares a change in the course of the franchise with an all-encompassing evolution. Like, look at skateboarding in the 2010s and now. The same applies to games.

"Our goal is to create a believable transition for the Skate franchise that will delight users for years to come." - Daniel McCulloch, CEO of Full Circle.

Some of the facts mentioned in the video:

  • The developers will focus on the development of the service game, so you should not count on the appearance of other number elements.
    • Full Circle promises to listen to user feedback and gradually add necessary features.
  • Skate will take place in a new city called San Vansterdam.
  • The game will have microtransactions. Mostly cosmetic items will be displayed in the store. No loot boxes and areas unlocked for money. "This is not Peytuvin," the developers assure.
  • Many people from the original Skate team are working on Skate freeplay.

Skate is coming to PC, PlayStation and Xbox with cross-play and cross-progression. A mobile version of skater roller coasters is also in production. The team hid the release date again, limiting itself to "when it's ready."
