Persona 5 Royal owners will not receive the free PlayStation 5 upgrade

It became known earlier this summer. that Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal will be on PC, PlayStation 5 (the third and fourth parts will also arrive on PS4), Xbox One/Series and Nintendo Switch. P5 Royal is already available on PS4, so the owners of the pastgen edition were asked: will it be possible to download it to the PS5 version? Unfortunately, it will not work.

One of the users of ResetEra drew attention to this detail. According to the official FAQ, Royal for PS4 owners do not have any additional products.

However, the loss may be small. You can play Persona 5 Royal on PS5 right now - backward compatibility with the previous generation works. And nothing has been heard about any improvements in the PS5 version so far - it is unlikely that anything really large-scale is planned.

As a reminder, the game will be launched on new platforms in October 21, and the third and fourth "Personas" will be ready in 2023.
