FIFA 23 will have neither Russian national team nor Russian clubs

On July 20, EA presented FIFA 23 football simulator. In an interview with Eurogamer the studio confirmed that the game will be without Russians.

What we know

EA stated that there will be neither clubs from championship of Russia nor the Russian national team at FIFA 23. This decision was made by EA Sports together with FIFA and UEFA. Note that Russian clubs and stadiums were removed from FIFA 22 back in mid-spring. Also, people in Russia have no chance to preoder the game.

FIFA 23 is the first part of the famous soccer simulator where female teams will appear. At the same time it's the last version of the game, which has the abbreviation FIFA in its name. It will be released on September 30. EA Sports did not agree to renew the rights to the brand with the International Federation of Association Football, so from 2023 the series will be released under a new name - EA Sports FC.
