2K suddenly turned on the servers of abandoned Evolve

Evolve is an asymmetrical shooter from Turtle Rock Studios, authors of Left 4 Dead and Back 4 Blood. In it, four players hunted one monster, which was also controlled by another player. Because of low online, 2K shut down the bench in 2018, but suddenly turned on part of the project's servers in 2022.

The game still has a loyal fan base keeping in touch with the publisher. So, a few months ago, Evolve Legacy, one version of the shooter, missed out on connecting via a peer-to-peer network. The community reached out to 2K, and resuscitated the online connections. Apparently, the company went ahead and breathed life into the Evlovle Stage 2 portion of the servers - a freetuple action variant.

As soon as the news broke, the online multiplayer grew at times - from a few dozen users to almost seven hundred at the peak. In addition to working matchmaking, gamers report drop boxes with rare skins. The feature disappeared from the game along with the server shutdown four years ago.

Unfortunately, neither the original Evolve nor the conditional free Evlolve Stage 2 are currently available in digital stores. Only those who got these games earlier still have access to them.
