Steam now supports retro console controllers for Switch
The Steam client received an update with unusual content. According to description Update now Valve's site has made friends with controllers from retro consoles, which are supported by Nintendo Switch.
The new devices have only one line: "Added support for classic Nintendo Online controllers." Valve spokeswoman Kaci Aitchison clarified that we are talking specifically about the NES, SNES, Nintendo 64 and SEGA Mega Drive.
It is important to note that such gamepads have fewer buttons than their modern counterparts. However, grandfathers can still be used in games for which you do not need to press a lot of different keys. If necessary, you can change the layout of the device through the Steam setting.
As a reminder, Nintendo has re-released the aforementioned controllers for classic entertainment games, available through an extended NSO subscription, on Switch. The collection now includes more than two hundred projects for older consoles.
