Skull & Bones makes no emphasis on a strong plot
Skull & Bones game director Ryan Barnard shared that the action game doesn't prioritize the story. Thanks to this, gamers will be able to forge their own pirate story.
"Skull & Bones is a game based not on a story," Barnard declares from the get-go. Part of the story is revealed because of important NPCs and contracts with them. The team has spelled out the lore and the main plot, but doesn't emphasize those aspects. "We want gamers to be able to create their own stories and choose what kind of pirate they wanted to be," the leader stresses.
Players progress through a progression system, unlocking blueprints for different types of ships, weapons and armor. If Barnard is to be believed, all of this will come in handy when exploring the world and battling enemies.
Game director specified that Skull & Bones is primarily a seafaring game, but there will also be things to do on land. Among them there are different outposts, faction camps and hidden treasures.
In addition, the leader explained why Skull & Bones will be only on PC and the latest generation of consoles. According to him, the project intends to maintain long enough, so it makes sense to release it just on the current generation.
Skull & Bones is slowly but correctly approaching release, which is scheduled for November 8. Platforms are PC (Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Stadia and Luna. The pirate long-running game has been postponed several times due to development difficulties and a lack of a precise and unified vision.
