According to the files found, the developers of Marvel's Spider-Man were working on a multiplayer mode in the game
In Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered and in the next Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which will soon be released on the "people's" platform, you can play exclusively single-player mode. But it appears that developer of Insomniac Games originally planned to add multiplayer capability, as evidenced by the information found in the game's PC files.
The first such information was shared by Twitter user @dniwetamp who posted two screen shots from the alleged executable file. The text lines from one file refer to the phrase "The Great Spider-Man," which could be applied to Peter Parker or Miles Morales. Other lines refer to the red and blue commands, which could mean that Insomniac was working on some form of multiplayer game mode.
The second image contains a developer note in the code that says, "If installed and in co-op, Character 2 will see this text." This means that Insomniac was also developing a co-op mode for Spidey that allowed players to team up and fight thugs in New York City together.
If the credibility of the files from the Twitter noname can be questioned, then the VGS gaming site, which claimed to have checked the files and confirmed their credibility, can be trusted.
