Last week it became known about the deal between Guillemot Brothers Limited (one of the companies that own Ubisoft) and the Chinese corporation Tencent.
It was announced that the Chinese would invest almost $300 million, and in return they would receive a 49.9% stake in Guillemot Brothers Limited and increase their stake in Ubisoft to 10%.
Amid this news, there was speculation that the French company might lose its independence.
Ubisoft co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemot gave an official comment to publisher Reutters and said:
"We remain totally independent and we can act with any outside company if we want to... We can do whatever we want."
