The second season of Paramaunt's Halo series has begun filming in Iceland. There are several changes among the cast of the series.

Joseph Morgan ("The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals") and Cristina Rodlo from last year's "No One Gets Out Alive" will join the cast. The showrunner has also changed, with Steven Kane being replaced by David Wiener.

Morgan will play James Ackerson, a career UNSC operative, and Rodlo will play Talia Perez, an aspiring linguistics specialist.

The first season of the series left mixed impressions, as the attempt to squeeze the atmosphere and mystery of the Halo games into a structured, watchable narrative resulted in a quiet and assumed sci-fi show. We'll see if the sequel surprises us.
