Sony confirmed: PS VR games will not be compatible with the next-generation PlayStation VR2 headsets
PlayStation VR2 users will not be able to run games for last generation headsets.
Here's What We Know
In the latest PlayStation Podcast, Hideaki Nishino, senior vice president of Platform Experience, officially announced that games that have been released on PS VR virtual reality devices will not run on the next generation of the gadget.
According to him, PlayStation VR2 has too much potential and uses other technology, so without additional intervention of developers, the new headset will not be able to run old games.
PSVR 2 is designed to give players a completely different experience, unattainable on outdated technology. However, Hideaki Nishino clarified that developers can always release updated versions of their projects so that they are available to users of modern VR-helmets.
When We Can Expect It
Recall that PS VR2 will go on sale in early 2023.
