Developers from the studio Team Ninja, known as the creators of complex games in the souls-like genre, announced that their next project Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty does not provide a choice of difficulty. All players will face the same challenges, and they will not be easy.

Here's how Masaaki Yamagiwa, the game's producer, commented on the decision:

We think it's good to have one set difficulty so that all players have the same experience over a really difficult obstacle, and they all feel the same way about it.
It's important for us to keep the same level of difficulty and give players different ways to overcome it. Wo Long is a challenging game, but we're working to give players all the freedom they need to tackle the obstacles in their path.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty can be compared to the souls-like games of genre creator Hidetaka Miyazaki, with players expecting high, but carefully balanced difficulty and plenty of ways to overcome obstacles.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will be released in early 2023 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series.
