The merger review process for Microsoft and Activision Blizzard continues.

Details

Not all regulatory commissions have yet confirmed the eligibility of the deal, but the process is moving forward. Thus, it became known that the Brazilian Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) has issued a positive verdict and gave its consent to the purchase of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft Corporation without imposing any restrictions.

Brazilian Commission did not see negative implications for healthy competition in the gaming industry, but noted that

... some PlayStation users might switch to the Xbox if Activision Blizzard games - especially Call of Duty - become Microsoft platform exclusives, but did not see such a possibility as a risk to competition in the console market as a whole.

Flashback

Earlier this week the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard was approved by Saudi Arabia, and in November their decision will be announced by the European Antitrust Commissions and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Recall, the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard is the largest in the history of the gaming industry, its value is $ 68.7 billion.

If all regulators confirm the legality and transparency of the deal, it will be formalized by the end of June 2023.
