Bethesda unexpectedly announced that it will release a major update for Fallout 4 in 2023.

The patch is primarily designed for the modern Xbox Series and PS5 consoles, but will be available for PC as well.

In this update, developers will add 4K resolution, increase frame rates, improve the overall technical state of Fallout 4 and fix a number of bugs. In addition, Bethesda gamemakers will add content that fans of the game have created as part of the Creation Club.

The patch will be free for anyone who already has Fallout 4. How much new gamers will have to pay for the improved version of the game is still unknown, but the community suggests that, similar to Skyrim Anniversary Edition, the developers will ask for the full price.

Bethesda has taken the opportunity to announce that Fallout 76 has started a temporary Halloween event, which will end on November 8.
