Blizzard made over $300 million on Diablo Immortal in less than six months
Despite the criticism of Diablo Immortal, the game continues to bring revenue to Blizzard.
Here's What We Know
The game took less than six months to surpass the $300 million mark in revenue. Almost half of Blizzard's revenue was generated by Chinese users. In five months, they brought in $144.7 million. That means about $160 million for the 60 other countries where the game is available.
What's interesting is that in China the game appeared with a month and a half delay. Diablo Immortal has 21.4 million downloads. Chinese gamers take almost 20% (4.15 million).
Note that at its launch Diablo Immortal was constantly criticized for its aggressive monetization system. Despite the dissatisfaction, users continue to spend money on the game. In the summer, an American blogger spent $100,000 on character upgrades.
