Google asks Stadia owners not to contact the support service for refunds - they will be returned automatically
The process of refunding for the purchase of content on the Stadia platform has begun and it is automatic, so Google asked not to contact support with a request for a refund. The company says it will "attempt to automatically process refunds for all purchases of games, additional content, and subscription fees (Stadia Pro does not count). The process may take until mid-January, so some users will have to wait.
Here's What We Know
Customers who have made 20 or more purchases will receive a separate email about each individual refund, and those who have made 21+ purchases will receive the same email, but with a summary of all refund attempts. If the refund cannot be made using your previous details, you will receive an email explaining how to set up an alternative method. As for the Stadia Pro subscription, the money for it will be refunded only to those users who subscribed after September 29.
Google also confirmed that users will have to return their devices to get a refund for them. While it doesn't specify if all users will have to do this, it only says that "in some cases, device verification may be required to process a refund."
