Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft's gaming division, gave an interview to The Verge, in which he shared his thoughts on the most current topics concerning the Xbox.

The Main Theses

  • Call of Duty will continue to come to PlayStation

Spencer once again stressed that if the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard is approved by the regulators, the users of Japanese consoles will not lose access to the most popular shooter series.

He is ready to negotiate with Sony about Call of Duty, but can not sign a contract with the wording "forever", because it is legally unfounded.

That said, Phil Spencer noted that he plans to add Call of Duty games to Game Pass.

  • Postponing the release of Starfield and Redfall

Spencer understands that players can't wait to get through these much-anticipated projects from Bethesda, but believes it's far more important to release really quality games than to rush them to release. This is especially true for Starfield, because the audience has been waiting for it for many years and will not forgive the developers if it fails.

Starfield and Redfall are expected to be released in the first half of 2023.

  • Keystone

Phil Spencer confirmed the development of a cloud gaming console with the working name Keystone.

This device was actually supposed to go into mass production, but it turned out to cost more than the planned $90 to $120. So, for now, Keystone remains a prototype, but the head of Xbox is confident that a similar device will appear on the market in the near future.
