Google has tightened the rules for monetization of game-themed videos on YouTube.

Here's What We Know

New rules exclude monetization of video, if it contains profanity and coarse language, erotic scenes and episodes of violence.

From now on, even games with moderate violence will not generate revenue for content makers.

Clips with graphic images of dead people are also outside of YouTube's new policy.

Moreover, these rules also apply to all previously published videos, so most game bloggers expect a significant drop in revenue. This clause will probably be revised, but in the meantime, streamers and viewers should be selective in their game choices.

The full list of restrictions is published on a dedicated YouTube support page.
