Recently, a major leak from Activision Publishing has been rumoured online.

The leaked documents ended up in the hands of Tom Henderson, and from him it became known that the developer has decided to turn the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022) add-on into a full-fledged game.

Now, a second respected insider Jason Schreier from Bloomberg confirmed the data and added it.

Here's What We Know

According to Schreier, Activision will indeed release a new Call of Duty this year, which will continue the events of Modern Warfare 2, but it may not have the number "3" in its title.

It is claimed that the developers will carry over many of the maps and game modes from the previous installment.

Jason Schreier mentions that despite the change of plans, Activision has not abandoned the release of additional content for Modern Warfare 2, but it is clear that the DLC will have a different content.

Sledgehammer Games is developing the next game.

When We Can Expect It

Traditionally, new installments of Call of Duty are released in the fall, so there's no reason to believe that the developers will release the project at a different time this time.
