Insider: Valve is indeed working on a new version of Counter-Strike powered by Source 2 and may beta test the game in March

Rumours of a new Source 2 version of Counter-Strike have been around for years, and finally some more concrete information has arrived.

Recently we reported that there was a mention of Counter-Strike 2 game in new Nvidia drivers.

Now, cyber-sports journalist and analyst Richard Lewis has confirmed that Valve is working on a new version of the iconic online shooter.

The working title of the project is Counter-Strike 2, and it is likely that the same name will remain in the official version of the game.

Richard Lewis has information that the developers have long been engaged with the project, and beta testing Counter-Strike 2 may start at the end of March.

One nuance related to the in-game elements remains unclear. It is no secret that the cost of skins, stickers and other cosmetic items in the current version of Counter-Strike reaches hundreds, and even thousands of dollars, so the developers should provide an option to transfer them to the new version. But Richard Lewis is not yet ready to say that Valve will introduce such an option.

Given how long rumors about Source 2 engine Counter-Strike have been circulating in the info-field, there is a good chance that Richard Lewis' information is true.
