Panic launches game store for Playdate console
As we wrote earlier, Panic held an event dedicated to the unusual Playdate portable console. The main novelty of the presentation was the Catalog digital store, which is described as a "boutique" featuring "software developed by the Panic team". It was also announced that the price of the console will rise to $199 starting from April this year.
Here's What We Know
Games that users have purchased on other platforms such as Itch.io will continue to be launched and work, but the Catalogue should make it much easier to find high-quality and interesting projects for Playdate. At the time of launch, the store has 16 games, 11 of which are brand new. Two of these games - Real Steal and Recommendation Dog!! - are released as a free "bonus" to the first season collection that came with each Playdate. Meanwhile, one of the device's early hits, the charming real-time storytelling game Bloom, is getting a major update that adds a post-game story and a new "relax" mode.
If you want to buy Playdate before the price goes up, you can do so on the official website. The console is being delivered to 22 countries, including Poland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and Germany.
