Rumours that Microsoft is planning to launch its own mobile app shop have been around for a long time, but only now the head of the corporation's gaming division, Phil Spencer, has commented on the matter.

Here's What We Know

In an interview with the Financial Times, Phil Spencer confirmed that Microsoft is indeed ready to open such a service, and primarily for mobile games.

Much of the launch of the platform depends on a positive decision on the deal with Activision Blizzard, as the mobile games of this company, in particular Call of Duty Mobile, are extremely popular and can attract a large number of users to the new service.

Phil Spencer expressed confidence that such a move would have a positive impact on competition in the mobile games and apps market.
