Amazon's new MMO won't be a reason to shut down The Lord of the Rings Online
A few days ago, Amazon Games announced that it was working on a big-budget multiplayer RPG based on the The Lord of the Rings universe.
Many fans were surprised by this decision, as there is a similar game on the market, which has enjoyed steady popularity since 2007 and is constantly evolving. Gamers have suggested that The Lord of the Rings Online will cease to exist when the new game is released.
Here's What We Know
However, Middle-earth Enterprises and Standing Stone Studios have released a statement saying that The Lord of the Rings Online will not be shut down and the two similar games can coexist in parallel. The developers will continue to develop LOTRO, which is hinted at by J.R.R.Tolkien's quote at the end of the post: "The road goes ever on...".
In any case, the game from Amazon won't be released for the next few years, so it's too early to worry about the fate of The Lord of the Rings Online.
