One of the most interesting shows at PlayStation Showcase was the announcement trailer for the action game Phantom Blade Zero from S-Game Studios.

Here's What We Know

The trailer impressed gamers, but left a lot of questions. The developers were quick to answer some of them in their Discord server.

Here are the most interesting facts about Phantom Blade Zero:

  • This is not the first game in the series, previously S-Game studio released mobile Phantom Blade games, but now the developers have decided to try their hand at developing a project for home platforms.
  • The Phantom Blade Zero concept was developed back in 2017, but the game designers didn't get to the active stage until 2022, so we shouldn't expect a release in the coming years, especially since there are only a few people working on the project.
  • The events of Phantom Blade Zero unfold in a fantasy universe that combines eastern culture, steampunk and the occult. The protagonist is an assassin named Soul. During the mission he is killed, but the mysterious healer manages to bring Soul back to life. Soul has only 66 days to live, so you must do whatever you need to.
  • The Phantom Blade Zero story campaign will take 30-40 hours to complete, but the action has a lot of additional content, both single and multiplayer.
  • The game is structured as a semi-open world: there will be spacious but separate locations.
  • Phantom Blade Zero uses S-Game's own Combo Chain system. It will allow gamers to make complex and spectacular combinations of punches with the push of only two buttons.
  • The trailer shown on PlayStation Showcase reflects the actual gameplay of the game, and has only been slightly tweaked to make it more spectacular.
  • S-Game did not sign a contract for exclusivity on Phantom Blade Zero, so the game is likely to be released on multiple platforms at once.
