Super Mario Bros. becomes the second highest-grossing animated film in history

According to updated data from Numbers, Super Mario Bros. has grossed $1,294,577,622 at the global box office since its release in early April. This means that it has surpassed Frozen ($1,284,540,518) on the list of the highest-grossing animated films of all time and is second to Frozen II ($1,453,683,476).

Super Mario Bros. has become the biggest box office hit of 2023 to date, surpassing Guardians of the Galaxy 3, which was released a month earlier and grossed $739.4 million, according to Numbers.

During the quarterly earnings report released last month, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa noted that the film is having a positive impact on the company's core gaming business.
