Journalists from leading gaming portals have published a preview of the historical strategy game Total War: Pharaoh, in which they shared their impressions of the game.

Here's What We Know

The authors are unanimously agreed that Total War: Pharaoh is one of the best and most developed strategies of the Creative Assembly studio.

Weather conditions play a huge role in the gameplay - they directly affect the course of battles. For example, when the weather is dry and hot, the grass is inflammable, and in storm or heavy rain the long-range projectiles are less effective, which can be used in battle tactics. Journalists were delighted with the implementation of weather conditions in the game and are confident that it will become one of its main features.

Reviewers noted that Pharaoh has slightly less dynamic battles than previous parts of Total War, but for two reasons this is only a plus:

  1. Players have more time to wisely manage the available resources and use all the capabilities of their troops.
  2. Because of the high technical execution of the game, users can pay more attention to the movement of soldiers and excellent landscapes of ancient Egypt, which, according to journalists, received a really beautiful and atmospheric.

For the sake of realism and historical accuracy in Total War: Pharaoh there are no cavalry troops, but the use of chariots has become much more important and practical. As soldiers battle, their armour wears down, making them more vulnerable to enemy attacks, and tactics can be built around this too.

When We Can Expect It

Total War: Pharaoh will be released in October 2023 on PC only.
