Samurai, warrior cat and little spirit turn to fight the undead in the new 2D action game The Spirit of the Samurai

Digital Mind Games made an interesting announcement at the Future Games Show. The Spirit of the Samurai is a 2D action game set in feudal Japan with fantasy elements.

Here's What We Know

The Spirit of the Samurai will take on the role of Takeshi, a samurai. He will fight against Oni and the undead, who are trying to take over Japan's lands.

There will be two more playable characters: warrior-cat Chisai and "brave but tiny" spirit Kodama, each of them will have unique abilities and gameplay for them will be radically different.

The Spirit of the Samurai will offer gamers an atmospheric location steeped in the spirit of Japan.

Aside from the action, the game combines elements of metroidvania and souls-like.

When We Can Expect It

The Spirit of the Samurai will be released in 2024 on PC and Atari VCS retro consoles.
