The popular metroidvania Dead Cells, created by the French studio Motion Twin, will expand its universe with an animated series to be released in 2024.

Here's What We Know

The developers have published a teaser trailer that lasts only 40 seconds and during this time, you can see a mysterious palace on a mountain with hundreds (or maybe even 1000) skeletons scattered inside, and a mysterious character sits on one of these piles of skeletons, followed by the inscription "2024".

The authors said that the project is being created by the French studio Bobbypills in collaboration with the French anime service Animation Digital Network (ADN). The events will take place on a cursed island that has been struck by a strange plague. After the foolish king of the island develops a cure that turns the population into monstrous creatures, prophecies begin to appear depicting a hero who will kill the king. But this hero (most likely, we saw him in the trailer) does not plan to save the kingdom, he just wants to be left alone.

When We Can Expect It

The animated series is due to premiere in 2024. There will be 10 episodes of approximately seven minutes each, which will first be exclusively shown in France and then become available worldwide.
