After the Summer Game Fest game show, journalists from 40 publications were given the opportunity to play 15 projects, after which they voted for the games they considered the most anticipated.

Here's What We Know

Alan Wake 2 became the leader in this voting. Survival-horror has been actively discussed since the end of May, when the trailer was shown at the PlayStation Showcase, but the gameplay demonstration, interviews with developers, and the opportunity for the publication to evaluate the game further fueled the audience's interest. This deservedly makes Remedy Entertainment's upcoming project one of the most anticipated in 2023, especially since fans of the first Alan Wake instalment have been waiting for the continuation of the story about the writer since 2010.

As for the other 14 games, journalists noted Armoured Core VI, Cocoon, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty and Disney Illusion Island. The full list of the 15 most anticipated games from Summer Game Fest is below:

  1. Alan Wake II
  2. Armoured Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
  3. Cocoon
  4. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
  5. Disney Illusion Island
  6. Foamstars
  7. Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior
  8. Immortals of Aveum
  9. Mortal Kombat 1
  10. Oxenfree II: Lost Signals
  11. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
  12. Remnant II
  13. Sand Land
  14. Sonic Superstars
  15. Viewfinder

Flashback

In the American town of Bright Falls, where it all began, a series of ritualistic murders are taking place. To get to the bottom of this case, Saga Anderson, an FBI agent, arrives at the scene and finds herself caught up in a nightmare story created by Alan. Remedy stated that this will be their first full-fledged survival-horror with a tense atmosphere and psychedelic moments.

When We Can Expect It

Alan Wake 2 is scheduled for release on October 17, 2023 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
