Jakub Stokalski, Design Director of 11 bit studios, shared more details about the strategy of Frostpunk 2.

Here's What We Know

Jakub told us a little more about the factions and their relationships. The concept of communication and tension between factions is taken from the real world, from situations that developers observe every day, where the ambitions of some people can lead to the death of others. The developer also reminded us that although your city will increase its potential in the sequel, all great civilisations have fallen due to conflicts between people, and someone's utopia can become a dystopia for others.

I wonder if the developers were focused on modern Russia? Because the description is very similar to this country.

When you start playing Frostpunk 2, your city will already be developed, but it is still struggling. This time, it will face internal threats related to people who can destroy it.

Flashback

Frostpunk 2 is a sequel to a survival strategy that combines urban planning, analysis, and social management. The game takes place 30 years after the apocalyptic blizzard, and now the entire planet Earth is covered in cold with endless frosts and severe weather. Players will take on the role of a metropolis leader who plans to conquer the icy lands for the oil industry in order to save the remnants of humanity. In such cruel conditions, the most base human instincts come out.

The developers promise to reveal the themes of internal divisions and social inequality in the game, which will lead to gamers having to face new threats when they have to make difficult and fateful decisions. The game will also feature Ukrainian text localisation, and you can follow Frostpunk 2 on Steam.

When We Can Expect It

Frostpunk 2 is expected to release in the first half of 2024 on PC.
